Volunteering with 4-H

Volunteering in 4-H can be one of the best ways to help your community, family and individual youth be better.  As a volunteer you will become very familiar with our creed to "Make the Best Better!" as you strive to help make things better around you.   4-H youth need you and need the dicipline and the recognition that comes from participating in something bigger than them.  4-H is in every state and even in some parts of Canada and Europe.  By volunteering with 4-H you will become one of thousands of volunteers in the world who are striving to help make our world a better place through our youth so they will have a world they can be proud of when they grow up.

Utah County 4-H has many options for volunteering.

Afterschool Program

In our Afterschool Program you can volunteer to help out in Elementary and Middle Schools to educate children in things that are important.  This oppurtunity will give you a chance to teach a class of 15 kids anywhere from service to cooking to camping to whatever interests you and feel is important to teach our youth.

Mentoring Program

In our Mentoring Program, you would be paired with a child that is considered at risk between the age of 10 and 14.  For a year you would build a relationship with that mentee by visiting them for one hour a week.  Once a month we would provide an activity for you to bring your mentee to.

4-H Clubs

In our traditional 4-H clubs there are 2 options for you to volunteer with.  You could run a Family Club for your family where you could focus on what you would like your kids to learn and have them work on projects to enter into fair.  The other option is to be a leader of a Community Club where you would invite kids in your neighborhood to participate in a club with kids their same age so that you could tailor your lessons to a particular age group.

Other Volunteer Opportunities

There are also many volunteer options that don't require long term commitments like volunteering to chaperone a camp or retreat, help run one of our events, judge for fair, and help with an afterschool program for a day.  Really the oppurtunities for volunteering are limitless.  If you've got the time, we've got the resources to help you help us.
